Reviews Some of a Few Films
"The Lost World" It was difficult to bring this Conan Doyle novel to life. Messrs. Earl Hudson and W. Rothacker did not hesitate to reconstruct the monsters of prehistory and bring them to life despite the danger such an undertaking presented. Some of the antediluvian animals we see on screen do not always appear completely realistic, but they nevertheless deceive us, and the battles between these giants of a bygone era are never short of impressive. The emotional drama that serves as the basis of The Lost World is developed in attractive images. The climax, which has us witness the race of a brontsaurus through the streets of London, is moving. We also note two or three subtitles that should be changed or removed. The Lost World is perfectly performed by Lewis Stone, Wallace Beery, Lloyd Hughes, Arthur Hoyt, Bessie Love, and Arthur Bennet.
...and other films "Witchcraft," a Swedish film that doesn't make us forget the broad horizons and purity of expression of Siostrom's Outlaws.
"Ame d'artiste," the latest production by Ms. Germaine Dulac, which will be presented to the public tomorrow.
