EARTHQUAKE DESTRICTS SEVERAL CITIES IN JAPAN
London, July 4. A dispatch announces that a violent earthquake has occurred in southern Japan. A passenger train is said to have been completely destroyed. Many deaths are feared. Tokio, July 4. The first telegrams reaching the capital announce that the earthquake that occurred in the Tottori district (southwest of Japan) has destroyed several towns. Hundreds of houses are in ruins. Many trains have been stopped. Two tremors were felt, the first at 2:30 a.m., the second at 4:30 a.m. Relief workers have been rushed to the disaster area.
