Boston's Pickwick Club Collapses
40 Killed, 160 Injured

New York, July 4. - The Pickwick Club, Boston's famous five-story nightclub, collapsed this morning around 4:00 a.m., as about 200 dancers were already celebrating Independence Day.
Forty bodies were pulled from the rubble. The other 160 people were all injured, most of them seriously. Rescuers found the body of a woman, upside down, caught by one foot between two beams.
The disaster is believed to have been caused by excavations dug near the foundations, which compromised the building's strength.
