An English hiker, a mountaineering enthusiast currently vacationing in Switzerland, has just become the hero of an unusual adventure.
Alpenstock in hand, he was crossing alone through the steep Tamina Gorge, near Ragatz, when suddenly a large eagle appeared above him. After making impressive orbs in the air, the bird of prey swooped down on the traveler. The traveler, although unsure, resolved to stand up to his enemy and, in defense, brandished his alpenstock. Frightened, the eagle, in turn, did not insist and dropped the prey it was holding in its talons. A small, white, whimpering thing collapsed at the Englishman's feet. He picked it up, while the bird disappeared among the pile of rocks. This gift from the sky was none other than a little suckling pig, very much alive and barely bruised by its fall.
One can imagine the triumphant welcome our mountaineer received when he returned to Ragatz a few hours later, holding in his arms the unexpected little animal that an eagle had offered him as he passed by.
