The Venus of Rhodes Yesterday, Baron Edmond de Rothschild presented to his colleagues at the Academy of Fine Arts photographs of a Venus found in the garden of the Governor of Rhodes, where she had probably been buried during some time of invasion. This Venus, crouching with her arms raised slightly in a lovely gesture, has been placed in the Rhodes Museum. It is a masterpiece of Greek statuary from the belle époque of Praxiteles. |
