New Proverbs
(On Old Themes)

On a loud-mouthed drunkard, agents were hitting hard;
And in the music hall, where the scene was taking place,
So that he would be mute, they had a sure way:
Twelve girls from London, appeared as sirens,
More make twelve sisters than violence.

A chauffeur, generous, so as not to crush anyone
Was playing his horn (to clackson what do you want)
But a nasty wag, whom here below, nothing surprises,
Stops... is crushed, then dies, well convinced
That it is double pleasure to deceive the deceiver.

A urchin (a terrible one) and yet very young
On the Butte-Montmartre, panics the concierges
One of them, they say, has burned candles
To never see him again and shouts to all, coming:
Little poison will become big.

After the rottenness reserved for wars
The knife, the Browning, are a real success.
Let's not worry anymore, Progress on Naguére
Makes us victorious and proud... to be French:
Tell me who you plant, I'll tell you who you hate!

Gaston-Maxime TASTE.

LITTLE THOUGHTS... WILD!

If you have sorrow!... sing, and it will vanish; if you have happiness... sing and it will increase.

A starving man steals a loaf of bread; he owes accounts to Society. Governments are the cause of cataclysms or massacres: they are not worried!
Justice Equality.

Our faults: luxury dogs that keep us on a leash; that we cannot get rid of, but that we call "mangy dogs" in others!

War and Flood, after their passage, leave only detritus and rot. But the flood fertilizes the soil with its silt; war delays by a century, the true progress of civilization.

Gaston-Maxime GOUTÉ.
