The Young Telegraphists' Strike (continued)

THE TELEGRAPHERS' STRIKE
(Continued from our first page).

IN LILLE
Saturday morning, at 10:30, the young telegraphists on strike held a meeting at the Bourse du Travail, rue du Molinel.
There were about thirty of them who, like the day before, demanded their 500 francs. They decided to continue the strike until they had obtained satisfaction.
After the meeting, the young bowlers dispersed very wisely. No incident occurred.
We are informed and we are publishing for documentary purposes:
Two months ago, the government granted an indemnity of 500 francs to civil servants; the adults received the full amount; but what happened to the young postmen in all this?
They were forced to demonstrate. After this demonstration, the government gave in and granted what the young people were demanding.
The first part was paid, the second part also..., but two days later, unfair decision, we learned that almost all of the second part was withheld from our salary.
This is why the young telegraph workers are protesting against the government that is rolling its promises
In addition, as 80 comrades from Paris were suspended for having demonstrated for their right to life, all the young "telegraph workers of France are on general strike to demand:
1° The 500 francs.
2° The reinstatement of the suspended comrades.
Unanimously, the tele workers of Lille have joined the movement. They will not leave it until they have obtained satisfaction.

IN ROUBAIX
The strike of the small telegraph workers has spread from Paris to the provinces.
In Roubaix, the seventeen young telegraph operators, young men aged 15 to 18, did not return to work on Saturday morning. Their service was provided, after some disruptions, by auxiliaries, assisted by a dozen engineers from Lille, led by a sergeant. No incidents to report.
As in Paris, the strikers are asking not to be forced by the PTT Administration to return the 500 franc allowance that was granted to them by mistake.
