SPORTS AND THE SCREEN
PAOLI Leaves for Palestine

The all-around athlete Raoul Paoli has left us. He holds the titles of French and English champion, and holds the shot put record, and is now a highly regarded film artist.
Paoli has just been hired to shoot three major films for S. Markus and Steiger Productions: The Mad Caravan, by Félicien Champsaur, The Cradle of God, and Jacob's Well, the latest major success by Pierre Benoît. In a few days, the likeable athlete will embark for Palestine to film Jacob's Well, then head to Egypt where The Mad Caravan will be performed.
Paoli's athletic achievements are exceptionally versatile: French discus throw champion, and shot put record holder with a distance of 14 meters. 18. French boxing champion in 1913 and 1914, winning all his matches by first-round knockout. French wrestling champion. International rugby union champion in 1911 and 1912, Scotland, and Ireland. Finished 10 centimeters behind Faillot in a 100-meter championship in 11.5 seconds. Represented France at three Olympic Games. Won athletics matches in England, Switzerland, and Belgium.
And when we asked Paoli if he would compete in the 1925 French championships, he replied:
"I plan to finish filming in June and be back to defend my championship titles. Besides, the cinema doesn't prevent me from training, and I'm already in touch with the correspondent from L'Auto in Caïffa, where I hope to get in shape."
So spoke Paoli, and we wished him good luck.
