The Dawes Report and the 8-Hour Week in Germany

London, March 28. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, interviewed by the Daily Herald regarding the effect of the Dawes Report on the current situation, stated:
"If the German worker is willing to work longer hours than the English worker, it is because he is intimidated. We must urge him to take courage and return to his union, and thus obtain better conditions of life than were possible when he was suffering the punishment inflicted on him by the Treaty of Versailles. All the harm comes from the peace treaty and the stupid ideas of some of our great statesmen to punish a nation."
