The Noyon City Loan Affair Arrest of Mr. de Camelis
Compiègne, March 28. Following a search carried out by Mr. Gabrielli, a mobile police inspector, accompanied by Mr. Israel, a chartered accountant in Paris, the Compiègne investigating judge arrested Mr. de Camelis, managing director of the Banque Industrielle et Métropole, located at 11 bis rue Scribe in Paris, the principal defendant in the so-called Noyon City Loan Affair. He had, until now, been released on bail of 131,000 francs. This case is expected to be highly publicized, as the loan was for 30 million francs, and there is currently an overdraft of 30 million francs for which no guarantee has been given. Further arrests are imminent.
