Le Provençal de Paris - April 05, 1925

BARCELONNETTE. Member of Parliament Charles Baron received a letter from the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Victor Peytral, regarding the Chorges-Barcelonnette line, which provides interesting details on this project, which is so dear to our people's hearts. Here is what the minister wrote:
"You have kindly asked me to inform you about the amount of credits that could be allocated in 1925 for the construction of the Chorges to Barcelonnette line. As you know, this line is not being built with Treasury funds, but with funds advanced by the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée Company, to which it is being granted and which is itself carrying out the infrastructure and superstructure, with the expenses being reimbursed by the State in the form of annuities (except for the portion remaining the responsibility of the Company: 25,000 francs per kilometer). According to the Company's forecasts, expenditure on new lines across its entire network will amount to 65,000,000 francs in 1925, including 3,200,000 francs for Chorges to Barcelonnette. As the figure of 65 million was stated in the establishment of the overall maximum of 373,800,000 francs which appears in Article 366 of the draft finance bill (report by Mr. Violette) and which represents the total amount of expenditure on new lines to be carried out in 1925 on all networks, we can consider the expenditure of 3,200,000 francs as having to be authorized for the line in question. But it should be noted that this is a maximum that the Company may not actually reach.
