The Road to Wealth
This road is open to all: it's just a matter of knowing how to walk it.
Those who have walked it and reached it make no secret of their experience. Here, first of all, is the advice given on this subject by the extremely wealthy American Carnegie: 1.Be born penniless.
2. Work tirelessly and save from the start. 3. Examine your books and balance your accounts daily. 4. Act promptly and decisively. 5. Always know what you want. His compatriot, Thomas Jefferson, who was a moralist of practical life, left us the following ten pieces of advice in ten commandments:
1. Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
2. Never spend your money before you have earned it. 3. Don't buy anything useless just because it's cheap. 4. Never regret not having eaten enough. 5. Work done wholeheartedly never tires. 6. Don't resort to others to do what you can do yourself. 7. Vanity and pride cost us more than hunger and thirst. 8. Begin things at the beginning. 9. Guard yourself against worries and sorrows that are only in your imagination and never happen. 10. Count to ten before speaking when you are displeased; and to one hundred when you are angry.
