Le Funi - April 19, 1925

We don't bother ourselves for nothing.

We often bother doctors, like firemen, for nothing. But sometimes doctors can take kind revenge...
Witness the one taken by Mr. Stanley Hewett, the King of England's personal physician, who, in London one of these evenings, in the middle of the night, was called to a patient who only had slight indigestion, the result of drinking too much.

"Have you prepared your will?" the doctor said to the patient in a grave voice. "No? Then call the notary, immediately. And your sons, where are they?"
- "In Manchester!"
- "Have them wired to come back..."
A servant left, charged with this double mission.
Then the sick man, trembling, begged:
- "Doctor?... Have you no hope of saving me?"
- "Me... yes! Especially since you have nothing and are as strong   an oak." "So why did you notify the notary and my two sons?"
-"So as not to be the only idiot you disturbed last night," replied Mr. Stanley Hewett, as he withdrew.
