DISARMAMENT COMMISSION AT GENEVA UNABLE TO REACH AGREEMENT ON PRIVATE ARMS MANUFACTURE

Geneva, February 18 (Dept. Petit Paris.)
The members of the Council of the League of Nations or their representatives on the Disarmament Commission drafted a resolution this morning deciding that it is advisable to wait until the international conference on the arms trade next May to make specific proposals on the private manufacture of arms.

In the meantime, studies will be continued and governments asked to make suggestions. The representatives of France and Great Britain approved the resolution. The Italian representative refused to do so, requesting that the question be adjourned altogether.

AMERICAN GOVERNMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN ARMS TRAFFIC CONFERENCE

Washington, February 18 (d. P. Parisien.) It is announced from an official source that the government has notified the League of Nations of its decision to participate in the conference on the arms traffic next May. The note stipulates, however, that the program of this conference should not include the question of the manufacture of arms, the current legislation of the United States not permitting the prohibition or limitation of this manufacture.
