L'Intransigeant - March 01, 1925

1925 Place Dauphine le Pont-neuf

Two new squares at both ends of the Pont-Neuf

The entrance to Rue Dauphine, at the end of the Pont Neuf, is framed by two vacant lots, muddy and dirty, where the last sections of walls of demolished houses are gradually collapsing.
The corner is horrible, dishonouring in the heart of Paris.
It will finally be transformed. A large square will be built on this spot.
The Prefect of the Seine has just issued an order deciding the acquisition of this land. The new square is the first achievement of a larger project that provides for the widening of Rue Dauphine and Rue de Nevers.
At the opposite end of the Pont-Neuf, Quai du Louvre will be widened to form, also at this location, another square.
