KU-KLUX-KLAN AT GATES WITH KNIGHTS OF THE RING OF FIRE
A pitched battle took place in the State of Ohio

New York, Nov. 1 (Petit Paris dep.) According to a message from Nies (State of Ohio), serious fights have occurred in this city between members of the Ku-Klux-Klan and their rivals the Knights of the Ring of Fire. Shots were exchanged last night; battles were fought between members of the two opposing camps. The fight extended into the surrounding countryside.
The situation worsened this afternoon. The city was filled with the noise of a general gunfight.
The conflict was provoked by the refusal of the Ku Klux Klan partisans to carry out the orders of the police who had forbidden them to hold a military review in one of the public squares. There then occurred a violent encounter between the members of the Ring of Fire and those of the Ku Klux Klan and this was the signal for a general melee.

The situation became so serious that a state of siege was declared and reinforcements were requested from the nearest military contingent to ward off all the dangers of the situation.
