Le Patriote lorrain 07 décembre 1924

A judgment from the Montpellier Criminal CourtA big fish has been caught in the nets of the Montpellier court. It concerns a merchant from Béziers, Mr. Lautrec, who had concealed four million in war profits (the campaign was not hard and disastrous for everyone in Béziers). What do you think happened to Mr. Lautrec? He was sentenced... to a fine of 5,000 francs. He has 3,995,000 francs left to ensure his bread and butter in his old age... It is understandable that in these conditions, some would see the return, without displeasure, of a new war where they would do the same good business and, obviously, re-conceal the same profits. They would simply try to be more clever and not get caught again. Besides, if you get caught, it costs so little.
