Freedom of the right to unionize Yesterday morning, the Council of Ministers authorized Mr. Justin Godart, Minister of Labor and Hygiene, to submit to the House a bill relating to the right to unionize, the text of which is as follows: Article 1. - Whoever, employer, foreman, employee or worker, has forced or attempted to force one or more persons, either to leave a professional union or to join one, by one of the following acts: refusal of hiring, dismissal or request for dismissal, threats of refusal of hiring or loss of employment, offer or promise of work, generosity, violence, threats or assault, will be punished by imprisonment of six days to one month and a fine of 200 to 1,000 francs or one of these penalties only, without prejudice to the damages that could be claimed by the injured party. Art. 2. The provisions of Article 462 of the Penal Code are applicable to the penalties provided for in the preceding article, except in the case of a repeat offence. |
