THE MINISTER OF THE NAVY ATTENDS EXPERIMENTS WITH MAKHONINE FUEL

Mr. J.-L. Dumesnil, Minister of the Navy, went to Vincennes yesterday morning to attend experiments with the Makhonine processes and to see what applications they are likely to find in his department.
The Minister was accompanied by a large number of officers from his office and the technical services. Received at the artillery laboratory by General Lefebvre, Director of Technical Services, and by Lieutenant-Colonel Navel, President of the Experimental Commission, Mr. Dumesnil first saw a 40 HP Ballot engine running with perfect regularity on the test bench using fuel oil gas.
He was also able to see a second device in operation which transforms thick, inferior-quality fuel oil into a liquid fuel immediately usable in internal combustion engines.
Finally, the fourteen-ton truck, running on coal tar, and which has already covered a 600-kilometer journey, passed before the minister. Mr. J.-L. Dumesnil, keenly interested in these tests, expressed his satisfaction to the inventor and spoke with him at length about the conditions under which his device could soon be installed in Cherbourg, on board a submarine hunter.
