CUSTOMS OFFICER'S SALARIES

PARIS, January 10. The Board of Directors of the active customs service, meeting this morning under the chairmanship of Mr. Lermite de Nantes, declared itself intransigent on the question of the starting salary of 6,000 francs. It has, however, admitted that the reform should be carried out in two stages, it being understood that a profound administrative reform carried out at the same time will allow the reclassification of the customs officer's job to the category that it should occupy in the financial departments.
