Les Nouvelles de Versailles 1924 11 16 The solution to the "undressed film" case. The judgment of the 2nd chamber of the Versailles Criminal Court

The solution to the case of the "naked film"

The 2nd chamber of the Versailles criminal court has just delivered its judgment in the case of the naked film. The investigation that had been opened by the Versailles public prosecutor's office had led to the indictment, for public indecency, of four artists from the Casino de Paris, Miles Diana, Maryalis, Savalle and Leduc, and to that of the offense of complicity in public indecency of Mr. Kreisler, director, and his operator Mr. Fleck.

The court, in its judgment, says that if it can be argued to a certain extent that the photographs of the show submitted to the court reveal as a whole an artistic character, it is no less constant that an exhibition in a public place, in an outfit, to say the least indecent, constitutes a spectacle of a nature to outrage the modesty of the persons who, by chance, are or could have been witnesses to it; that on the other hand, however regrettable it may be the facts alleged against the defendants, there are nevertheless mitigating circumstances, in particular with regard to Miss Diana, Maryalis, Savalle and Leduc, due to the good information that was provided about them.
The court pronounces the following sentences: Miss Diana, Maryalis, Savalle and Leduc are sentenced to a fine of 50 francs. Mr. Kreisler is sentenced to one month's suspended prison sentence and a fine of 200 francs.
