Page three - An original advertisement with a bailiff, for the Alcyon establishments...

IN 1924, Cycles Alcyon
and their Subsidiaries
delivered more than 100,000 MACHINES

The prodigious vitality of cycling in France has allowed our country to place itself in a few years at the very forefront of this industry.
This is due to the degree of perfection that we have achieved in this branch, thanks to the remarkably oriented efforts of our major firms to ensure us a preponderant place on this world market.
Among the eminent specialists of the "little Queen" we must mention ALCYON whose various factories manufactured in 1924: 104,442 machines, as evidenced by the following report, drawn up by Maître Bourdier, bailiff, 2, rue Pillet-Will in Paris,

on October 1, 1924 in the presence of various sporting notables.
The year one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four. On the first of October,

At the request of Mr. Edmond GENTIL, Director of the "ALCYON" Establishments, Cycle and Motorcycle Factory, whose Headquarters are at COURBEVOIE (Seine) rue de la Garenne, 40 to 52,
Who stated that it was in his interest, for his commercial advertising, to have recorded the number of machines (bicycles, motorized bicycles and motorcycles) sold by the ALCYON Establishments" (Main House and Branches), during the commercial year 1923-1924, and, as a consequence, the turnover during the same period, That I am required to make the said observations,

Why, I, Raoul BOURDER, Bailiff at the Civil Court of the Seine, sitting in PARIS, residing there, 1 rus Pillet-111, (15 bis rue Laffitte) the undersigned,
have traveled to COURBEVOIE (Seine) rue de la Garenne, at 50 at the Headquarters of the ALCYON Establishments, and, being there, made the following observations:

I was shown the machine manufacturing books, as well as the statistics of daily Shipments to customers, then the Company's Accounting books

It results from the examination of these documents

1- The number of machines shipped by the ALCYON Establishments (Main Company and its subsidiaries) to their Customers, in FRANCE and abroad, during the commercial year 1923-1924, that is to say from October 1, 1923 to September 30, 1924, was:

ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY-TWO
----- 104,442.---

2.- During the same period, the turnover realized as sales to Customers amounted to the sum of:

FIFTY-FOUR MILLION THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED EIGHTY-THREE FRANCS, FOUR.
54,381,383.04
And of all the above, I have drawn up this report of findings, to serve and be valid as of right.

In the presence of:
1.- Mr. Félix LADE, President of the General Union of Cycle and Automobile.
2.- Mr. Charles RAVAUD, Editor at the Journal L'AUTO.
3.- Mr. Victor BREYER, Managing Director of the Journal L’Écho des SPORTS.
4. Mr. Théodore DUROU, Managing Director of the Journal SPORTING.

Who signed with me

COST: SEVENTY-EIGHT FRANCS, ninety cents.

The progression of Alcyon which has reached this figure in 20 years, is significant: it is the logical outcome of a CONSCIENTIOUS manufacturing above all.
