LA JAVIE.- A conflict has just arisen between our population, however well-behaved, and the departmental administration of public education. The latter, basing itself on a municipal decision of 1911, which had never been mentioned, wants to impose, this year, on our schools, the system of co-education of the sexes. The Municipal Council, faithful interpreter of the population, has protested many times against this innovation, which it considers inopportune and dangerous. Moreover, in August, the fathers of families signed an address to Mr. Inspector, asking him to maintain the current state. Nothing worked. The teaching staff was ordered to merge the two schools at the start of the school year. The parents kept their children at home. Only three young children of school age showed up at the schools. By telegram, the mayor informed the Minister of Public Education of the situation.
