Since last Monday, the Municipal Conservatory of Music and Declamation has been installed in the Thiole villa, acquired by the city and located at avenue Malausséna, 32. The fact deserves to be underlined, because it has its importance that cannot escape all those who are interested in the development of our Conservatory.

Its foundation dates back to the year 1916. It was our fellow citizen Miss Adeline Bailet, 1st prize of the Paris Conservatory, who had the initiative to create a School of Music in Nice.

The Municipality then assigned to this institution a room of the Bourse du Travail which was hardly suitable for such a destination. In October 1919, the Conservatory was transferred to the rehearsal room of a Musical Society, boulevard Mac-Mahon, 14.

Here it is finally definitively installed in a place that suits it. And it is not too soon! From now on, the teachers will be able to give their students their lessons in favorable conditions.

May the Municipality be willing to follow very closely the prosperity of our Municipal Conservatory and help its development. It can only contribute to the artistic reputation of Nice.
