Monologue for a little boy of six

When we entered the lady's house, One beautiful Sunday afternoon, Papa said to me in his calm voice: "Remember, Victor, everything I told you:

You're going to try to be quiet. Be good, be nice, polite....
And then don't act stupid, Or tonight, when we get home, we'll put you to bed.
At teatime, if we sit down to eat, Above all, don't ask me for anything... Eat little, Be very proper.
If someone offers you a cake, you'll say: "Thank you very much
Don't rock all the time;
Stand up straight; don't look like that; When you're six, you stand up straight!... Straighten your collar a little: it's all crooked...
Look at your nose in the mirror...
Oh! well... Blow your nose!... Gently.
Leave your gloves, you're annoying me...If the lady talks to you, look intelligent..."

And, the visit over, We both left. But when the door was closed, I heard very well that the lady had said:

«He's very nice, this little guy. It's a shame. He looks quite stupid...»
