THE FIRST FOOTBALL MATCH BETWEEN FRANCE AND GERMANY
The two captains kissing. The french goalkeeper jumps to detect the ball
About five thousand people attended the first Franco-German football match yesterday at the Buffalo Velodrome. The two teams, to great applause, entered the field together; the two captains exchanged bouquets and embraced each other; there were a few cries of: "Long live sport!" and "Long live peace!", but not the slightest incident. And, from the beginning of the match to the end, the play was correct, free of brutality and at times very interesting.
