The Metric System Adopted by Japan
The introduction of the metric system in Japan has been a fait accompli since the promulgation of the Imperial Ordinance of May 15, which decreed the entry into force, on July 1, of the law of April 11, 1921. In primary schools, the teaching of the metric system has been compulsory since April 15 and the old measures will only be taught to students incidentally for information purposes. It should be noted that since the war, it is the fourth power that has adopted the metric system.
