THE MORAL OF A FABLE
Pierre learns fables in class. Fables by a certain La Fontaine. "The Crow and the Fox, in particular. I don't know if you know it?... He recites it one evening to his dad, all proud. It's the story of a crow, you know, who had a cheese in his mouth. A fox came: he asked him to sing. So while singing, the crow dropped the cheese. The fox grabbed it... And the poor crow was very annoyed... Well, my little Pierre, that's all perfect, said his dad... But what does that prove?... What does that prove? Oh! yes... Pierre thinks for a moment. And then, naturally: But that proves that you should never talk at the table, my little dad.
