BANK EMPLOYEE BECOMES INSANE, STABBED HIS WIFE AND THEN CUT HIS CAROTID

He died instantly; his wife, taken to hospital, did not regain consciousness.

A young bank employee of twenty-six, Mr. André Masson, living at 29. rue du Ruisseau, in Montmartre, suddenly went mad, disemboweled his wife with a knife, then cut his carotid artery with a razor. The tragedy was frighteningly rapid.

Yesterday morning, around 6 o'clock, in fact, the building's concierge, Mr. Vanderplatsen, was suddenly awakened by violent blows at the door of the lodge, while a desperate voice shouted: "Help! He wants to kill me." Mr. Vanderplatsen jumped out of bed and ran, Mrs. Masson was in front of him, covered in blood. Her husband had stabbed her twice in the abdomen, perforating her intestines. A few minutes later, he came back down, armed this time with a razor and wanted to rush to his wife's body. Neighbors intervened. But the madman escaped them and, twice, striking himself with his razor to the throat, he cut his carotid artery. He fell down dead.

Her body was taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine. As for Mrs. Masson, born Blanche Rousseau, and who is twenty-two years old, she is in Bichat Hospital, in a coma.
