At the Trades Union Congress Relations with Russia LONDON, September 3. The Russian delegates who had flown from Moscow to attend the work of the Trades Union Congress took their places this afternoon in the Congress hall. As they entered, all the delegates rose and applauded them at length. This demonstration did not prevent the Congress from rejecting a few minutes later, by a large majority, a proposal tending to the establishment of an international of all trade union organisations. This proposal was, in essence, intended to establish official relations with the trade union organisations of the Soviets. The vote of the Congress therefore shows that the British workers are not yet prepared to unite with their Russian comrades. |
