The electric vehicle competition, Yesterday, the concentration of competitors took place in Bellevue Electric automobiles enjoyed a certain success, about twenty years ago, as city cars. Large firms, created in Paris, rented them to the public. But the progress of the gasoline engine and the "sur-se place" of accumulators led to the almost total disappearance of electric locomotion. Now, it seems that progress has occurred, in recent times, which will bring us a renaissance of the electric vehicle, especially with regard to industrial vehicles. And a competition will take place, from October 1st to 11th. Among the competing manufacturers, let us mention Krieger, Renault, de Dion-Bouton, etc. There are 16 vehicles registered (city cars, vans, etc., etc.). The inauguration of the competition will take place on October 1st, under the presidency of Mr. Peytral, Minister of Public Works. The events are organized by the Union of Electricity Unions, with the assistance of the Ministry of War, the National Office of Research and Inventions, the Automobile Club of France and the Central Electricity Laboratory. Starting yesterday, the competing vehicles were concentrated at Bellevue, at the National Office of Research. Routes have been mapped out in Paris and the western suburbs (Versailles, Saint-Germain, Rueil and Saint-Cloud). They are very bumpy. G. DE LAFRETE. |
