LITTLE STORIES FROM THE BROAD WORLD

It promises!

We have just experienced, near Washington, the effects of the biggest airplane bomb that has ever been built. It weighed nearly 2,000 kilos, was loaded with 1,000 kilos of explosives and measured 4 meters from end to end.

Launched from a height of 1,200 meters, the explosion produced a crater 21 meters in diameter and 8 meters deep. More than 1,000 cubic meters of earth were moved. And the displacement of the air was so violent that the plane, in spite of its distance from the point of fall, was strongly shaken.

Pacific America has just set a new record. But we have no doubt that the competing air forces, stimulated by his example, will soon take it from him.

The next last war will be fresh and joyful.
