THE MIRACLES OF THE LOUVRE Did the "Kings of Parthenay" have legs and did the "Lansquenets du Barrois" have, in the vacant lot of Contrisson where they lay abandoned, the same appearance as they have today in the Louvre Museum? ? Such was, as we know, the double problem the solution of which had been confided to M. Ameline, Commissioner of Judicial Delegations. We have previously said the results of the investigations carried out, for this purpose by this magistrate in the West and then in the department of Meuse It is also this solution that was responsible for seeking, in the report drawn up and in the documents gathered by the commissioner for judicial delegations, Mr. Cauwez, substitute for the 5th section of the Seine prosecutor's office. Mr. Cauwez has now finished studying this report and examining these documents. He in turn drew up a new report and came to conclusions. Everything will be typed and will be submitted next Monday to the public prosecutor's office. |
