explosion determines disaster at us nitrate plant A VIEW OF THE DISASTER AS THE RUBBLE BEGINS TO COOL In Nixon (New Jersey), a factory exploded at the beginning of this month. One hundred thousand hectoliters of ammonia nitrate, which were stored in the warehouses, fell prey to fire in a few moments. Despite immediate relief, the number of victims of this terrible disaster is estimated at thirty-five dead and one hundred injured. The shock of this tremendous explosion was felt in New York, in the lower city, and had repercussions in several localities, some of which were located at a distance of more than 32 kilometers. |
