THE ANNEXATION TO ITALY OF THE CITY OF FIUME This ceremony was celebrated in the presence of King Victor-Emmanuel. The king is received by general Giardino - The delegation present the keys to the city to the king The city of Fiume celebrated its annexation to Italy last Sunday. The king, accompanied by Admiral Thaon di Revel, Minister of the Navy, arrived aboard the cruiser Brindisi. He was received upon disembarkation by the governor of Fiume, General Giardino, who pronounced the formula for the annexation of the Fiumean people to the Italian people. Patriotic demonstrations took place throughout the day and the king had to appear on the balcony of the government palace on numerous occasions to respond to the crowd's ovations. |
