The city of Fiume celebrated its annexation to Italy last Sunday. The king, accompanied by Admiral Thaon di Revel, Minister of the Navy, arrived aboard the cruiser Brindisi. He was received upon disembarkation by the governor of Fiume, General Giardino, who pronounced the formula for the annexation of the Fiumean people to the Italian people. Patriotic demonstrations took place throughout the day and the king had to appear on the balcony of the government palace on numerous occasions to respond to the crowd's ovations.
