FOREIGN OPINION
The Old Road and the New
Foreign Affairs, the monthly magazine of the left of the Labor Party in Great Britain, will publish tomorrow, March 1, under the signature of its editor, E. D. Morel, an article entitled "The Old Road and the New." and the short story), of which here is an extract:
For France, for Great Britain, for the whole of Europe, security is not found in partial alliances, in new groupings for which the strategist, the soldier, the militarist politician will set the conditions, inevitably preparing a new collision bloody and ruinous.
Security can only be found in a League of Nations, including not only France, Great Britain, Italy and the smaller nations, but also Germany and Russia with equal rights.
Security for France, for Great Britain, for the whole of Europe, for the whole world is not found in borders bristling with fortifications, in air fleets, warships and submarines, in great European armies, in the arming of Africa and Asia, but in disarmament; all discoveries, all scientific progress being employed, not for the destruction of humanity, but for its progress.
