AN ENGLISH AVIATOR CAME BY AIR TO MAKE HER PURCHASES IN PARIS
Mrs ATKEY PREPARING BEFORE BOARDING A PLANE
THE AVIATOR AT THE WHEEL OF HER APPLIANCE, READY TO GO This accomplished aviator is the wife of an English colonial official in Sudan. She preferred to stay in London to be able to continue flying. Licensed pilot in 1920, Mrs Atkey has so far totaled the respectable figure of one hundred and sixty -fifteen hours of flight. She came to see her from the air doing some shopping in Paris, but the suitcases she had taken in anticipation of her purchases proved insufficient to contain everything. An additional bag had to be loaded yesterday morning on the transport plane which, every day, makes the Paris-London journey. Here is the aviator in her plane with her traveling companion who, on occasion, also takes the wheel. A small telephone allows them to chat throughout the journey.
