The oil struggle in Albania

London, February 28. We learn from the Daily Telegraph that the rumor of the upcoming engagement of Prince Nicolas of Romania to Princess Mafalda, and their possible accession to the throne of Albania, is causing American oil kings to rush to London and Bucharest.

The idea suggested in Mr. Sinclair's candidacy for this throne may be safely rejected, but his ardor for seizing the oil lands is far from having diminished. We seem to forget that a British union obtained a concession from the former Albanian government which includes the research and exploitation that all Albanian oil fields could undergo.

For this time, Standard Oil Co. and Mr. Sinclair forgot their quarrels and agreed to challenge British hegemony. They have just founded and obtained control of an Albanian newspaper, the free circulation of which aims to attract the favor of Albanian deputies and public opinion towards the Standard-Sinclair combination.

However, it could well be that they will ultimately consider splitting up with the British rights holders.
