THE OFFENSE OF OPINION
in the services of Mr. Maginot
A Paris government commissary worker, attached to the Vanves store, Mr. Villeneuve, was dismissed.
But do we know why this sanction was imposed on a worker with seventeen years of service and the beneficiary, during his career, of three promotions of his choice? Because Mr. Villeneuve one day used a machine and paper belonging to the administration to “type” newspaper strips. The pretext fooled no one. Mr. Villeneuve was dismissed because he was deputy secretary of the union and because his superiors in the administration had declared themselves ready to make an example at the first opportunity.
We have exaggerated, we have distorted, we have called "theft" a fact which is not even a petty theft to hit an activist whose union action was not fortunate enough to please the administration of Mr. Maginot. Will the latter allow the crime of opinion to be reinstated in its services?
