TO THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL

2,600 tenants will be evicted to allow the expansion of Montparnasse station

At the Municipal Council meeting, Mr. Chérioux reported that the expansion of the Montparnasse station and the extension of the tracks between Montparnasse and the fortifications will result in evicting 2,600 people from their homes. He asks that the State Company take care of housing these tenants before undertaking the work.

MM. de Tastes, François-Latour and citizen Grangier speak in the same direction.

The prefect of the Seine, then the prefect of police, gave details of the Company's intentions. It appears that its commitments are not precise and that it only undertakes to provide housing in equivalent numbers to the extent possible.

Citizen Luquet protests against the execution of projects which aggravate the housing crisis.

Mr. François-Latour announces that the Senate has just put on its agenda the loan project for the construction of cheap housing. The premises, which the City could thus build, should be used to house those evicted by the railway companies.

Finally, the council votes on a draft deliberation from Mr. de Tastes requesting that no expropriation decree can be taken without the municipal administrations having been consulted, and that the public authorities take the necessary measures. so that no evictions take place near Montparnasse station.

2,600 tenants will be evicted to allow the expansion of Montparnasse station.
