The Frenchman BOROTRA, who has just won the title of world tennis champion at Wimbledon.

THE WIMBLEDON TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Borotra is world champion

London, July 5. More than 15,000 people attended the finals of the Wimbledon international tennis tournament today. Despite the abandonment of Miss Suzanne Lenglen, we had the great consolation of recording a world victory for France.

From now on, it is the French champion Borotra who will hold the much envied title of world tennis champion. He managed to defeat his young opponent Lacoste, by 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6 and 6-4.

In women's doubles, the title of world champion goes to the Americans Miss Helen Wills and Mrs Whiteman, who defeated the English Miss Mackane and Miss Cowell, by 6-4 and 6-4.

In men's doubles, it was again the American players Hunter and Richards who secured the world title by beating their compatriots Williams and Washburn, by 6-3, 3-6, 8-10, 8-6 and 6- 3.

In mixed doubles. Gilbert and Miss Mackane beat Godfrey and. Mrs Shepherd-Barron, by 6-3, 3-6 and 6-3.
