On the banks of the Oise, last Sunday, an enthusiastic crowd of sporting spectators and elegant walkers gathered to watch the Pontoise Crossing by swimming organized by the Union Sportive Pontoisienne, which sees the interest in this event grow each year. Under a benevolent sun, 67 competitors set off in three different series, and set off from the northern tip of the Pothuis Island, towards the gasworks, where the finish line was at the pontoon of the Cercle des Tritons Pontoisiens. The race was held in three series: the aces, that is to say the adult swimmers, true champions; the ladies, graceful and sporty, as much as these gentlemen, then the beginners who performed real feats. During the race, the trumpet band of the 22nd Dragoons gave a great performance and the Free Harmony performed a few pieces from its repertoire. Then, the prize-giving took place at Place de la Gare, where from 5pm, the public and competitors formed a compact crowd. The Free Harmony gave a brilliant concert, the doubled step with the accompaniment of the trumpets of the 22nd Dragoons was very much appreciated, And at 6pm, after the prize-giving, the public showed their satisfaction by applauding the winners.
