Deputy dismissed for electoral fraud Let us rest assured... it is only in the colonies that these things are seen. We read in L'Officiel, on April 17: On the proposal of Mr. Fabry, Minister of Colonies, Mr. Marie (Valère) known as Agis, first deputy mayor of the commune of Marin (Martinique) is dismissed from his functions. Here is the text of the report to the President of the Republic. It is worth reading: By judgments of the Court of Appeal of Martinique, dated November 20, 1923 and February 20, 1924, Mr. Marie (Valère), known as Agis, first deputy mayor of the commune of Marin, was sentenced to 500 francs of fine for electoral fraud and one month in prison for violence and assault against a judicial police officer in the exercise of his duties. By order dated February 28, 1924, the governor of the colony temporarily suspended the above-mentioned person from his functions. “I will therefore be grateful to you, in accordance with article 86 of the law of April 5, 1884 on municipal organization, for your signature on the attached draft decree dismissing Mr. Marie (Valère) , said Agis, of his duties as first deputy mayor of the commune of Marin." |
