A GIANT TORTOISE AT THE HALLES

A number of passers-by stopped yesterday in front of this giant tortoise weighing 500 kilograms which, brought early in the morning to the Halles and put up for sale, was sold for 500 francs to a trader in the Vaugirard district. This tortoise, which is found almost exclusively on the coasts of Mexico, was caught in Kérity-Penmarch, in Finistère.
