CURIOSITY Today, room 11. Mr. René Ballu and Mr. Logé are exhibiting beautiful antique and modern furniture and works of art, pianos, paintings and beautiful oriental rugs that they will sell on Monday from 2 a.m. SALES ECHO M Lair-Dubreuil has just dispersed in a short session two collections each comprising a very small number of objects, but all of which are of the first rank. One featured a suite of seven decorative panels by the great master Hubert Robert which reached 440,000 francs; in the other, a delicious composition by Boucher, fetched 215,000 francs, and a painting by Fragonard: Night, one of the above doors which decorated the residence of Mme Du Barry in Louveciennes, paid 86,000 francs. Me Girard led a sale in which tapestries formed the main element, notably a suite of four tapestries from Brussels from the 17th century, retracing the Story of Ulysses, which was sold for 83,000 francs to an American. Me Georges Tixier sold furniture which included some jewelry and bronzes. A dining room cost 4,500 francs, a Louis XV wardrobe 3,500 francs, Barye bronzes 1,200 and 1,500 francs, a pearl ring 2,520 francs. |
