PONT DES ARTS Mr. Jacques Rouché, director of the Opera, recently elected member of the Academy of Fine Arts, took a seat yesterday in this company. The Academy awarded two grand prizes Le Guay-Lebrun, of 9,000 francs each, to the painter Barthélemy and the sculptor Marlial; two Desprez prizes, of 1,000 francs each, to the sculptors Moissenet and Patrisse, and the Piot prize, of 2,000 francs, to the sculptor Clerc. The Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, at the session of which Mr. Millerand was present, yesterday awarded the grand prize of devotion Audiffred, of 15,000 francs, to Miss Marguerite Korn, former supervisor of the P. T. T., for her works of philanthropy. A novel by Etienne Garry has just been published. It is entitled La Ville ardente. It is an abundant and simple work, thoughtful and candid. THE WATCHMAN |
