THE CLOWNS OF THE AIR THE HENDON MEETING was a success for France London, June 28. - The King of Denmark, the Duke and Duchess of York, the Duke of Connaught, the Prime Minister and several of his colleagues, more than two hundred deputies and several tens of thousands of spectators attended today the great meeting of Hendon aviation, in which a French squadron participated for the first time. More than two hundred aircraft took off; there were relay races, bombing exercises, the simulated attack of a cruising cruiser, etc... but the highlight of the day was undoubtedly the spectacle offered by the exercises in tight formations and the acrobatic flights carried out by French aviators, which aroused the admiration of the crowd. The Star states on this subject that the French aviators were identical to air clowns. They threw their machines in all directions and performed astonishing sleight of hand with their devices, as if they were simple tennis balls. |
