Astronomy

We remember this little boy who wanted to become an astronomer so he could stay up late. He would undoubtedly have become a night owl and would have thought of anything other than observing the sky.

If mathematics plays a big role in astronomy and makes it possible to predict what we will observe in the future, many astronomers have happened to make discoveries by examining the sky alone. The great astronomer Herschel was absorbed in contemplation of Gemini when he discovered that one of the stars in this constellation was moving. He thus added a planet to the short list of those that we already had.

Wishing to place his discovery under the illustrious sponsorship of George III, he named his discovery Georgium Sidus but the astronomers of the continent preferred to follow the old mythological order and named the planet Urania.

The new planet was discovered to be the furthest from the sun, two thousand million miles away, but it lost the distinction of this excessive distance when Neptune was discovered in 1846. Since then, many more have been discovered. other planets which reside even further away from this divine sun that so many inhabitants of the earth have adored.
